Heather Rudy and Eric Wenning were high school sweethearts (then, for a little bit, not) before getting engaged at Stone Villa Wine Cellars. “I set up a whole scavenger hunt,” Eric tells about his proposal. “There was a blizzard that day, and my friend made a fake snowman by the lake.” After the instruction to “take a selfie with the snowman,” Eric pulled a ring from under the snowman’s hat and presented it to a very surprised Heather. Planning the wedding came easy to the couple, thanks to Eric’s experience as the owner of Wenning Entertainment. His best advice is to simplify the guest list by using the ABC system. “If you don’t talk to anyone on the B or C lists for a year, maybe they shouldn’t be at your wedding.” In the end, the two shared their day with 220 loved ones, though it was their time alone before the reception that made the biggest impression. “When we were in the room before anyone else to see everything,” Eric says, “It was a nice moment for us. The whole day you’re going from person to person, and to just be by ourselves and soak it all up was really awesome.”

Instead of signing a guest book, the couple’s friends and families shared well wishes on vinyl records. “We put them up in our house, like you would a platinum record, so we can always see the people who were at our wedding.”
