More than 1,700 guests poured in to the Rivers Casino for the 2012 Pittsburgh Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival. Those who attended had the chance to sample from a selection of more than 250 liquors, including scotch, single-malt, bourbon, whiskey, gin, vodka, tequila, rum, and cordials from worldwide distilleries. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, this year’s theme was all things “Vegas,” which cued a high-energy environment with tastings just steps from slots and table games. “The editors of Forbes Travel Guide put us on the spot this year by naming us the ‘Best Whiskey Event in the Country.’ I think we lived up to the designation,” says Dale Markham, general manager, Pittsburgh Wine Festival and Pittsburgh Whiskey & Fine Spirits Festival.
