Author and motivational speaker Wes Lyons announces the debut of the second edition of his book, “The Pursuit With Patience.” About eight months in the making, this new development includes an additional chapter, aptly titled “Beyond the Sport,” that complements his life skills curriculum for high schoolers, called “The Pursuit.” Says Lyons, “This chapter was very instrumental to talk about some of the important things that I didn’t know growing up and to help get a light going off in the minds of the youth. Kids are so wrapped up in sports and activities in school, and they need to be introduced to significant life skill necessities, such as knowing your social security number — that is something that they really need to know, but don’t.” Since we last spoke with Lyons, a member of WHIRL’s 13 Under 30 class of 2014, his program has continued to gain momentum, receiving a grant from The Heinz Endowment and expanding from six schools to seven. Additionally, he released a new student workbook in September, “The Pursuit Workbook,” aimed at providing students with the essential steps for success. He says, “Everyone’s really enjoying the program and growing. I want to see these kids blossom.” Lyons’ big plans for 2015 include further expansion, implementing his program in Pittsburgh public schools as well as those in West Virginia.

The second edition of “The Pursuit With Patience” is available for purchase on and Kindle.
