Sabrina Saunders and Brandon Mosby never officially met, even though many opportunities to do so presented themselves throughout the years. “Our best friends married each other, Brandon attended Central Catholic at the same time that I attended Oakland Catholic, and we were even guests at the same wedding almost 10 years ago,” says Sabrina. It wasn’t until Brandon recognized her at a funeral, where he was working as the funeral director, that he went over to catch up. Once they had finally connected, Sabrina and Brandon were inseparable! After a few years of dating, they planned a trip to the Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa to celebrate Brandon’s birthday. “Before we left to get on the road, he was so anxious and excited that he couldn’t wait,” Sabrina says. “He handed me a huge pink box. Once I opened it and found the ring box through all the layers of gift paper, he got down on one knee and proposed.” A wedding at The Greek Orthodox Social Hall soon followed, where 200 guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds, including many of their friends who were already married. “We were the last two in our collective friend group to marry, so we sat our friends and their spouses with us at a grand table in the middle of all the guest tables,” Sabrina says. “It was a lot of fun.”

“We were married at my family church [Nazarene Baptist Church] where the pastor is my cousin,” says Sabrina, who wore two dresses for the special day — one for the ceremony and one for the reception.

“The Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh East Liberty was not just our host hotel for guests, but we also held the rehearsal dinner there and came back to the hotel bar with three other wedding parties after the reception,” Sabrina says. “Choose a hotel or location that fits all your needs and style. You won’t regret it.”

The couple served Moio’s Italian Pastry Shop’s signature cake, featuring white batter with a slight almond flavor and buttercream filling with cherries, pineapple, toasted almonds, and rum.
