Bright Boots
Photograph form Ilse Jacobsen
What better way to boost your mood on a rainy day than by wearing a beautifully bright pair of boots? Footloose Shadyside is introducing a new line of rain boots by Ilse Jacobsen, a Danish designer known for her trend-conscious creations that are also simple and functional. Rock some signature Scandinavian style in these 100% natural rubber boots, lined with cotton fleece. Footloose, 736 Bellefonte St., Shadyside. 412.687.3663. footlooseshadyside.com.
Trash-ionistas
The hottest new fabric set to trot down the runway this month? Trash bags! On November 1, at the 12th Annual Garbage Bag Gala, Pittsburgh’s fashionistas, including local boutique owners and designers, will be decked out in their best trash bag couture at the Fairmont Pittsburgh to benefit the Salvation Army’s East Liberty Family Caring Center. “The Salvation Army’s Family Caring Center is a vital part of this community,” says Pamela Abdalla, Garbage Bag Gala’s founder and chair. “Dollars raised from the Garbage Bag Gala help to ensure that these people in crisis continue to have a safe haven.” In addition to making donations, guests can also try to win fab prizes in the raffle and during the unique “Dumpster Dive” portion of the event. WTAE-TV Channel 4’s Wendy Bell will be the master of ceremonies, and Margot Perot, a member of the Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board, is the guest speaker. Best Dressed: It’s Electric
We’re so not over the neon trend yet, and we’re so glad to see others embracing all things bright and bold. Our favorite event looks go to these fluorescent frocks at Riverlife’s Neon & Nature themed Party at the Pier.

Warm Up
Canadian Fur Company has added five top designer lines to the Downtown Smithfield location’s offerings, including a collection of fur-trimmed jackets by Dominic Bellissimo. The designer is known for his premier shearling, and this season, he is experimenting with new colors and textures for additional luxury and softness. His jackets are made of super-fine wool that can be even softer than cashmere. Canadian Fur Company will be highlighting Bellissimo’s jackets at a trunk show on November 24.
