The stars of Point Park University were sparkling at the University’s 16th annual Starmakers gala. Violet Gallo’s star was shining brightest of all as she received the 2010 Performing Arts Partnership and Achievement Award for her numerous contributions to Point Park’s art department and her support of arts throughout the City of Pittsburgh. It was a show-stopping evening featuring high-energy musical theatre and dance performances by Conservatory of Performing Arts students. More than 500 guests raised more than $300,000 to benefit Point Park’s Conservancy of Performing Arts and its scholarship program. “We were very pleased to be able to honor Mrs. Violet Gallo and are grateful of the support of Ron and Pat Violi as honorary chairs,” says Point Park Director of Marketing and Communications Mary Ellen Solomon. “It’s a wonderful way to raise scholarships for our students and to showcase the talent of our Conservatory students and faculty.”
