The amount of Grecian influences that have shaped Rita Rizos and Christopher Pappas’ relationship is one for the books. Rita’s brother introduced the pair when Christopher was working the food fair at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. They hit it off, sparking a two-year courtship. During a week-long vacation in Greece, Christopher took a moment from their dinner plans to venture onto the restaurant’s balcony. It was the perfect place for them to view The Acropolis of Athens and for him to execute a romantic proposal. The couple celebrated with a traditional ceremony at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Ambridge and an intimate reception at The Wooden Angel in Beaver. Warm shades of maroon, cranberry, orange, and yellow covered the tables and filled the flower arrangements for a flawless, fall theme. Opa!

Searching for a nontraditional frock, Rita was pleased to find this Terani Couture dress. The knee-length, champagne number featured decadent beading at the neckline and along the bottom.

A two-tiered, toasted almond torte from Kretchmar’s Bakery featured a coating of almonds and autumn-hued accents.

“For both of us, the best memory was having our children make speeches at the reception,” Rita says. “We have seven kids between us, ages 21-27. It was very special to be toasted by our children.”
