The newest addition to Upper Lawrenceville is a one-of-a-kind, multi-purpose space whose mission is to provide clients with a place necessary to reconnect with their bodies and minds in order to create their own paths to healthy living. Founded and opened this past spring by Christine McMahon Tumpson, editorial director of WHIRL Publishing, the studio is an inclusive place to practice yoga, learn mindfulness and meditation practices, attend lifestyle workshops, and connect with others in a relaxed environment.
Walking through the front doors of ONE WHIRL Healthy Lifestyle Studio is like walking into a magnificent retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Pittsburgh. “The studio consists of a large front room for usage as a class and event space, a kitchen and office with a full bath, a quiet meditation room, and an open-air garden and container farm with seating, lighting, and dozens of different varieties of edible plants growing throughout,” says Ben Laun, ONE WHIRL brand ambassador.
The studio was gorgeously designed and organized according to the principles of Feng Shui, the Chinese philosophical and organizational system of creating harmony and proper energy flow through the orientation of objects within a room. The space is filled with gold accents and ornate details, particularly in the lush garden patio where Tumpson’s green thumb has transformed the backyard into a botanical beauty.
The perfectly executed layout and vibe of the studio allows for it to be used for a plethora of purposes, in particular classes and workshops dedicated to combating and coping with the trials and stresses of everyday life. “The foundation of our practice combines the physical with an inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement, and meditative awareness, we strive to promote an understanding of the interdependence of all these aspects in your personal health and well-being,” says Tumpson. The Lawrenceville gem also houses and sells a variety of lines of lifestyle products ranging from clothing to skin care, including ONE WHIRL Yoga Apparel, BootBud, EVER Skincare, and dōTERRA.
The studio is also proud to partner with health and wellness experts in order to help build and maintain connections and spread awareness of issues facing our bodies, minds, communities, and planet. Recent events have included everything from an EVER Skincare’s Ladies Night of Wine and Wellness, to Food for the Soul with Olga George, with many more on the way! With a space as all-encompassing as ONE WHIRL Healthy Lifestyle Studio, there is no better place to clear your mind and learn and engage with others in a calming and inviting environment.
“ONE WHIRL Healthy Lifestyle Studio provides everything your mind and body could possibly need, particularly finding your inner grace and gratitude while elevating your physical, mental, and emotional well-being,” Tumpson says. “Welcome to your new home!”
