Megan Connelly, a professional musician and piano teacher, found perfect harmony with Michael Wodzinski, the Western PA sales/service representative for ESI Equipment, Inc. Timothy Komen beautifully orchestrated their wedding day, helping to plan a ceremony at Duquesne University Chapel of the Holy Spirit and a reception at Fairmont Pittsburgh. Creams, whites, champagnes, and metallics created an atmosphere of classic grandeur, while delicate flowers, soft candlelight, and crystal chandeliers added to the elegance. “Part of what made our wedding so special is that so many of my friends and colleagues in the music business participated,” Megan says. The preludial musicians, choir, cocktail hour singer, and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony String Quartet at dinner were all friends of the bride. Michael even joined Jeff Jimerson & Airborne to serenade his sweetheart during the reception!

The Meeting

Megan and Michael were paired on — even though they lived their whole lives just 10 minutes apart!

The Proposal

Michael cooked a romantic Italian dinner, during which he repeatedly got down on one knee to ask playful questions like, “Megan Connelly, would you like a second helping?” and “Megan Connelly, would you like another glass of wine?” Despite this build-up, the bride-to-be remained unsuspecting until the end of the meal, when he again got down on one knee to ask, “Megan Connelly, would you like this engagement ring?” Megan says, “To this day, I can’t imagine why I didn’t see that coming!”

The Dress

Megan wore an ivory Monique Lhuillier fit-and-flare gown from Anne Gregory for the Bride, which she dressed up two different ways. Megan wore her mother’s pearls and a lace belt during the ceremony, then changed into a sparkly jeweled belt and diamond necklace for the reception.

The Flowers

Hepatica’s Rachel Check handled the flowers, crafting a cluster bouquet of white amaryllis and cream roses with gold filigree for the bride.

The Bride’s Advice

Megan suggests future brides hire a wedding planner and a videographer. She praises Timothy Komen for eliminating most of the planning stress, and Nate Sherer Productions for allowing her to view moments she missed and revisit moments she loved.

The Cake

Bella Christie and Lil’ Z’s Sweet Boutique created a four-tier taupe, lace, and pearl wedding cake, alternating layers of vanilla batter with lemon filling and chocolate batter with chocolate fudge filling.
