At this year’s Medallion Ball, 121 candidates — sparkling in a sea of delicate, white ball gowns — were honored for contributing a combined total of 24,319 volunteer hours to the Pittsburgh community. “What I find truly amazing is that so many of these girls give up so much of their little free time in high school to help others in need,” says Roseanne Wholey, Medallion Ball publicity chair. “Each year, I am overwhelmed by the total number of volunteer hours worked by the candidates.” Natalie Kindler completed the most hours (749.5), and Anne Lucas completed the second-most (668). More than 1,250 guests came to the Wyndham Grand to celebrate the candidates for the event, hosted by St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind and chaired by Jan Kubiska and Beth Brunins. Mario and Nathalie Lemieux watched their daughter, Stephanie, and Rich and Cathy Fitzgerald watched their daughter, Mara, receive the prestigious honor. Sarah Rooney, Katherine Hanna, Jennifer Petnuch, and Mary Nicholas were also honored at the event, which proved to be a magical night these ladies will never forget.
