Wherever you are, you can always go downtown — but to experience the magic of the “Best Downtown” in America, according to Livability.com, you’ll have to travel to Pittsburgh. Having ranked first on the site’s newly released “Top 10 Best Downtowns” list, our very own Golden Triangle is gaining recognition for its iconic skyline; low vacancy rates; thriving business district; eclectic mix of shops and restaurants scattered along Liberty, Penn, and Fifth Avenues; and diverse range of theaters and galleries throughout the charming Cultural District.
“As far as locations go, there are few places as uniquely positioned as downtown Pittsburgh, Pa.,” writes Livability, and we couldn’t agree more. Nestled between the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, Downtown Pittsburgh boasts an exciting nature scene in addition to its cultural amenities. Point State Park’s riverfront trails, for example, allow for ample outdoor activities in the summertime, as do the rivers themselves — kayaking, anyone?
While many locals regard Downtown Pittsburgh as the “heart” of the city, one thing is for certain: this timeless neighborhood has stolen our hearts once again. — Lauren Wells
