When they started planning their wedding, Kate Koop and Khip Irwin wanted personal, significant venues. Kate, a lawyer and partner at Tucker Arensberg, P.C., spends a lot of time at the Allegheny County Courthouse. “I always pass the grand staircase and admire the architecture. I thought it was the perfect place to hold our ceremony,” Kate says. “Plus, not many people have had their wedding ceremonies here. Having a unique wedding venue was really intriguing.” Surrounded by candles and over 150 loved ones, Kate and Khip took their first steps into their new forever. They followed the classic, sophisticated ceremony with a fun, modern reception at James Gallery, which Khip’s parents own. “We decided to come back to the place that was like a second home,” Kate says. “It’s the perfect place to hold a wedding.” Transitioning to the reception’s atmosphere, Kate removed the long train that cascaded down the courthouse steps and added a custom-made, crystal and beaded belt for a chic look. “Being surrounded by friends and family from every part of our lives was the best part of the day,” Kate says. “Our friends gave some amazing toasts, and in the photos, you can tell how happy and in love we are.”
