It was a Thursday night when Michigan resident Hilary Shapiro received a message on eHarmony. The sender was Zack Wright, living in North Carolina, and so, she thought twice before responding to someone who lived so far away. But she took a chance, and Zack responded right away (in part because he was participating in a free trial weekend on the site, and wanted to strike up a conversation before his time expired!) They met six weeks later when Zack traveled to Michigan to visit his family, a two-week trip he’d planned long before meeting Hilary. In an instant, they were inseparable, traveling back and forth two to three times each month, until Zack moved to Michigan, asked Hilary’s father for his daughter’s hand, and then proposed. The two were wed in Pittsburgh, the bride’s hometown. Before saying “I do,” they held a rehearsal dinner at PNC Park, where the two cut a computer-shaped groom’s cake baked by Creative Cakes. The next day, Hilary and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done by stylists from Salon deStefi no. The couple exchanged vows and celebrated at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, bedecked in shades of Tiffany blue and cascades of ivory flowers arranged by Blooms Florist. “It was literally a dream wedding for both of us,” she says. The party didn’t stop until 3 a.m., with DJ Spike Real playing all night.
