Hidden in this delicate sea of green leaves and pastel petals, newlyweds Jessica Valotta and Joseph Balestrino shared a romantic moment in front of the Cathedral of Learning. The couple married at St. Raphael Church earlier that day, but since the University of Pittsburgh held special meaning for the couple — as Joseph’s alma mater and the location of his proposal to Jessica — they decided to take some shots on campus before heading to the reception at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott. When photographer Jorge Santiago saw the gorgeous garden, he told the college sweethearts to jump in and strike a pose. “I did not want to go in there and get my dress dirty,” Jessica confesses. But she made the hop over the bushes, quickly and cleanly. With a suave dip, the couple fell into the surreal surrounding of endless florals, showing off Jessica’s lace Alvina Valenta gown from Kleinfeld Bridal and Joseph’s Calvin Klein “Espresso” tuxedo from Valotta’s Tuxedo. After seeing the photo, she agrees it was worth taking the leap. “Whatever your photographer tells you do to, listen,” Jessica says. “They really know what works.”
