Red roses became a beautiful motif at Brianna Griffin and Corey Van Scoy’s wedding. Synonymous with romance and complementary to the blush bridesmaids’ dresses, the florals fit the couple’s vision of a fairy tale-worthy wedding. Feeling showered with love and well wishes from friends and family on their special day, the pair posed for this stunning snapshot to savor the essence of it all. “[Our photographer, Jenna Hidinger,] had the brilliant idea to use the red petals from the aisle to shower down on us,” Brianna says. “The Scottish Rite Cathedral has such amazing architectural details, and this picture just encapsulated the entire feeling of the day.” Brianna encourages future couples to invest in a photographer who can visualize creative scenes, like this one. “You have these pictures for the rest of your life,” she says. “Make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing and is willing to work to make sure every special moment is captured for you to look back on.”

Brianna’s ballgown featured asymmetrical tulle along the skirt, a lace bodice that she altered into a sweetheart neckline, and custom-made lace sleeves, one of which was off-the-shoulder.

The couple met while attending Waynesburg University, dating two years before Corey proposed in Wilmington, N.C. “We went on a surprise, private horse-drawn carriage ride, a popular thing in Downtown Wilmington,” Brianna says. “When the carriage stopped along a beautiful, picturesque river scene, Corey asked me to marry him.”

“I wanted everything to be as elegant and fairy tale-like as possible,” Brianna says. She created the centerpieces herself, incorporating red roses to match her bouquet.
