It’s lasting love at first sight! | by Rachel Jones

“You know how the bride makes her entrance and everybody turns to look at her? That’s when I look at the groom. ‘Cause his face says it all, you know? The pure love there.” That’s one of our favorite quotes from the movie 27 Dresses. It’s also our inspiration behind this issue’s Photographers’ Favorites feature. Whether it’s filled with tears or grins of happiness, the first glance a bride and groom share on their wedding day is priceless. We also have photos that mark the moment when fathers see their daughters for the first time as beautiful brides, decked out in their whimsical white dresses. Check out these precious, meaningful, and emotional first look photos (some even take place before the ceremony), all captured at just the right moment.

“All morning, prior to their ‘first look,’ Jonathan was incredibly happy and excited. He was also very nervous. The jitters built to a crescendo during the moments just before the ‘first look.’ Then, as he turned to see his bride for the first time, everything slowed to calm. And that moment set the tone for the rest of their wedding day.” —Cyndi and Tony Araujo, Araujo Photography

“I stopped in the bridal room before the wedding started to tell Tara good luck and to have fun. Her father, David, still hadn’t seen her, and the girls said he was coming in in a moment. When the door opened, his face said it all: very proud of his beautiful daughter becoming a bride. Most of the room teared up. It was a great moment for the two of them.” —Mike Leonardi, Candidly Yours Photography

Dana Petronzi & Samuel Urick III | Ovation Images

“This was taken from beside the altar at Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside. Most churches don’t have any place for a photographer to hide up front where we can turn around and capture the faces of the bride and groom during the ceremony. This image is pretty unique because we get to see their faces while they are being married by Father Grecco.” —Don Merz, Ovation Images

“Their expressions are so genuine and excited. I love when the first look gets this kind of reaction on both the bride and the groom’s face. We captured these shots between two different photographers, within seconds of each other.” —Autumn Stankay, Skysight Photography

“We walked down the street towards their house, and we passed this building. When they leaned toward each other, they had the biggest smiles! I loved the vintage effect, too. It was just right for this image.” —Dianne Welsh, Dianne Adrian Photography

Dana Martini & Tejas Parikh | Big Day Photography

“There was a lot of emotion that day. They had family from the other side of the globe, they had just moved away from town shortly before the wedding, and her father was not in good health. The look on their faces brought it all together when they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. From that moment, nothing else mattered and everything mattered all at the same time.” —Dino B., Big Day Photography

Tiffany Thompson & Kevin Goodwin | Bellissima Photography

“We loved this private area of Longue Vue Country Club, as it provides a secluded place for the couple, as well as beautiful light. Kevin was still overwhelmed to see Tiffany walking down the aisle, proving once again that the ‘first look’ does not lower expectations, but actually heightens them.” —Robin Pesa and Brenda Daugherty, Bellissima Photography

“I love the emotion. Not only was the location [Outer Banks, N.C.] perfect, but there was this incredible excitement between the two of them. There really is nothing more special than those few moments when it all sinks in: ‘Today is the first day of the rest of my life with this person.’ It’s a beautiful thing, and we consider ourselves so blessed to share these moments with our clients.”  —Michael Williams, MichaelWill Photographers
