Fond Farewell

Congratulations to Rafael Sciullo, president and CEO of Family Hospice & Palliative Care, who’s been named the new president and CEO of Suncoast Hospice, the nation’s largest not-for-profit hospice program, based in Clearwater, Fla. Sciullo starts his new assignment in February. “This is a bittersweet moment for me as I’ve had the opportunity to lead what many of my peers believe to be one of the best hospice programs in the business. I am eternally grateful to our entire staff, to our tremendous volunteers, and to our community-focused board of directors,” he says. The Bloomfield native joined Family Hospice in 2001, and, during his tenure, he and his team transformed the organization from a South Hills entity to one of the leading hospice providers in the state, currently serving patients in nine counties. Today, the company provides care to 3,900 patients and their families annually. It has five office locations staffed by 277 employees and 460 volunteers. A true pioneer, Sciullo cultivated the development of 19 programs for patients and their families, including the opening of The Center for Compassionate Care in Mt. Lebanon and Canterbury Place in Lawrenceville. He also fostered relationships with Presbyterian SeniorCare, UPMC, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, St. Clair Hospital, and Grove City Medical Center.
