More than 430 guests attended the Sip and Sample event at the highly anticipated grand opening of the eco-friendly Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel. Sip and Sample allowed black-tie clad guests to preview the new hotel while enjoying a modern garden theme, including a “green carpet” and orchid chandelier designed by Bill Chisnell of designspace. Music by The Roger Humphries Big Band and the Daniel May Band filled the air. At the opening of the grand ballroom, guests took in a performance by Cirque Productions aerialists, and lined up to sample delectable cuisine from Habitat, the hotel restaurant. The event featured a silent auction to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, raising more than $11,000 for the cause. Event speakers included Chairman and CEO of PNC Bank Jim Rohr, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts President Tom Storey, and Fairmont Pittsburgh General Manager Leonard Czarnecki.
