Jodi Butler and Kris Garmey’s love story began when Kris noticed Jodi, with whom she shared mutual friends and similar interests, on Facebook. “I found her adorable. We ended up going to Paris 66 for dinner and our relationship grew from there,” says Kris. After dating for more than two years, Kris proposed on a long weekend trip to Orlando. “We were sitting out on the villa deck, drinking coffee after a workout. Jodi was telling a story about meditating and I knew then that I could listen to her for the rest of my life. So, I got up, pulled a piece of bamboo off a tree that was covering us, tied it around her finger, and asked her. She said yes!” Wedding planner and designer Melissa Rees helped create a natural and organic vibe for the ceremony and reception at Eden restaurant in Shadyside to fit Kris and Jodi’s personalities by incorporating an earthy color palette of soft green and purple, and elements like bamboo, palms, and orchids. The ceremony infused music from the band Big Love and personal touches for an unforgettable event. “Since You,” an original song composed by friends of  Jodi and Kris, played, while two of their best friends served as attendants, and dear friend Julie Demayaer wrote and performed the ceremony. “We allowed for an open mic experience and for any guest to say a few words,” Kris says. “We were brought to tears and deep laughter many times during this part.” One of the pair’s favorite memories from the day was dancing with their 28 guests. “The whole day was amazing.”
