Drybar Pittsburgh in Upper St. Clair blew open its doors on June 30, treating the community to a chic salon where every hour is happy hour!

Praised across the nation for its fab blowouts and fun atmosphere, Drybar invites guests to escape their hectic schedules and dedicate much-needed time to themselves. The light, open space exudes a modern and approachable atmosphere, where the talented team of stylists is dedicated to helping you look and feel your best.

As someone who gets tired of blowdrying her hair after about 17 seconds, I leapt at the chance to check out Drybar Pittsburgh in Upper St. Clair. Sitting in the styling chair in front of the white marble bar, I glanced at the descriptive menu of available styles as well as a look book to get a better idea of how these styles would look on me. Sticking to the “bar” theme, the salon offers: The Straight Up, straight hair with a little bit of body; The Manhattan, a sleek and smooth style; The Cosmo, loose curls; The Mai Tai, beachy waves; The Cosmo-Tai, a combo of the previous two styles; Southern Comfort, big hair and high volume; Dirty Martini, a tousled and textured style; the Uptini, an updo; and Shirley Temple, styles for girls under 10.

Sticking to my typical order at any bar, I went with Southern Comfort. My stylist, Carolynn, escorted me to the secluded sink area for a luxurious shampoo and conditioner session, complete with a mini scalp massage, before the actual blowout began.

Armed with a buttercup yellow blowdryer and a round brush, Carolynn went to work on my mane while filling me in on the products she spritzed along the way. In addition to bringing volume, shine, and more to my hair, each one smelled deliciously intoxicating. (So much so, I purchased my own bottle of Triple Sec, a 3-in-1 cocktail that texturizes, amplifies, and refreshes!)

Thoughtful touches, like the airing of “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Pretty in Pink” on the TVs behind the bar and the availability of mimosas, coffee, and water to clients, added to the relaxing, comfortable environment.

By the end of my appointment, I had an extra bounce in my step — and not just from my voluptuous new ‘do! With my style refreshed and my mind recharged, I felt ready to tackle the day. Anytime you need a little pick-me-up or your tresses could use some extra TLC, I highly recommend hitting the Drybar.
