The United States Naval Academy embarked on a new mission as it hosted the 14th annual All Service Academies’ Ball of Western Pennsylvania. More than 170 guests gathered at the Westin Convention Center Hotel to dine, dance, and honor the young men and women who so courageously serve our country. In addition to the Navy, 26 active cadets and midshipmen attended. The night commenced with a formal dinner and toast, presented by Guest of Honor and U.S. Naval Academy Rear Admiral Terry J. Benedict. “The ball is a great way to honor the choices that these kids have made,” says U.S. Naval Academy Chair Gail Carl. “They could have chosen to attend a college or university, but instead they chose to serve our country.” A portion of the event proceeds are benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides assistance to and raises awareness of injured service members.
