After more than 13 years together, Billy White surprised Ali Trombetta by proposing in the same gazebo where they shared their very first kiss. The surprises continued the following day when he brought Ali to his family’s river house to celebrate with their relatives. She was shocked to see that he invited 20 of her friends from college and various cities to join the party! The wedding merrymaking kicked off with the rehearsal dinner, held at Engine House 25; bowling at Arsenal Lanes the next day; and the main event — the ceremony at St. Boniface Church, followed by a reception at Stage AE. More than 275 guests gathered to toast the couple, who have known each other since middle school. The raw, industrial concert venue was transformed into a chic, yet laid-back space, decked out in white, black, and tan décor with florals by Pete Donati & Sons. Afterward, the festivities moved to McFadden’s, where Ali and Billy’s close friend, Pittsburgh Pirate Neil Walker, surprised the duo by taking them, Walker’s wife, and another friend they grew up with onto the field at PNC Park. With the Pirates being in the 2014 playoffs just a few days prior, Billy says that he became emotional taking in the atmosphere and walking through the same tunnels the players had just gone through. “We got out on the dugout, and we opened a bottle of Champagne on home plate and passed it around. The girls hung back to let the guys have a moment, and we walked around the perimeter of the field and reflected on our friendship over the past 20 to 25 years,” he explains. Says Ali, “The entire day was surreal; an out-of-body experience.”

Above: “Working with Stage AE was probably the easiest part of the entire wedding planning process,” Ali says. “Renee [Lutz], the special events coordinator, was wonderful to work with. There were really no limits to what we could do with the space, and she worked so well with Vic Fortunato, our event planner and caterer.”

The J.Crew bridesmaids dresses, adorned with a striped bow at the waistline, were one of the best representation’s of the day’s elegant, relaxed theme, the bride says.
