Excited writers, educators, and food enthusiasts filed into the bar area of Elements Contemporary Cuisine, sipping organic wines and cocktails and waiting in anticipation for the man of the hour — renowned food writer Michael Pollan. Robert Morris University brought Pollan to Pittsburgh as part of the Pittsburgh Speakers Series and hosted the dinner as a prelude to his lecture at Heinz Hall. Guests enjoyed cuisine and conversation as Pollan unassumingly entered the room. His down-to-earth nature was immediately evident as he mingled with fans, discussing his love of gardening, among other topics. “I can tell by the people in this room that the food movement in Pittsburgh is really blossoming,” Pollan said. “You have one of the best Edible magazines in the country.”
