In celebration of the recent federal court decision to give same-sex couples marriage rights in Pennsylvania, Mayor William Peduto and Fairmont Pittsburgh hosted an event of immense magnitude. Nineteen same-sex couples were married at the City-County Building, with Peduto officiating. The ceremony preceded a grand reception at Fairmont Pittsburgh during Pride Week! Says Fairmont Pittsburgh General Manager Matthew Sterne, “When the court decision was announced, we knew we wanted to commemorate this significant occasion in some way. And, what better way than to utilize our wedding expertise and throw these couples a beautiful wedding reception.” Executive Chef Jason Dalling and Pastry Chef James Wroblewski created a lavish menu of passed hors d’oeuvres, carving stations, and desserts, which included one edible mini cake — a replica of the larger cake in the ballroom — for each couple to take home!
